BNU Study: Policy action needed to avoid drastic increase in poverty

A 33 per cent increase in the inflation rate has already pushed 11 million people below the poverty line and a further 22 million are at risk in the absence of any policy action to curb the current trend, according to Sartaj Aziz, the vice chancellor of Beaconhouse National University and a former minister.  He was quoting a recent study conducted by Beaconhouse National University Institute of Public Policy at a lecture on "Food Security for the Poor" organised by Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF).
